After 115 years of history, the club has officially ceased to exist, with reports indicating that it carried debts of approximately €20 million.
An Italian court formally declared Brescia bankrupt after determining that the club was unable to repay its outstanding liabilities. Over the previous 18 months, Brescia had been trapped in a severe financial crisis, with the situation becoming so serious that club officials could no longer pay the players’ wages on time.
Brescia attempted to settle part of its debt through tax credits, but the proposed relief was later ruled invalid. In 2025, the team initially managed to avoid relegation from Serie B on sporting results. However, the Court of Arbitration for Sport found that the club had committed financial irregularities and imposed a four-point deduction in May 2025.
The penalty pushed Brescia down to 18th place in the standings, resulting in relegation to Serie C. During the summer of 2025, Brescia’s owner decided not to register the team for the upcoming Serie C season. Although the club rarely competed for Italy’s biggest trophies, its long history, passionate local following and association with legendary players gave it a unique place in the country’s football culture.
Brescia had already announced its dissolution in the summer of 2025 after entering the bankruptcy process. Nevertheless, football in the city did not disappear completely. A new club called Brescia United was later established with the aim of rebuilding the local game and eventually earning promotion to Serie B.
